Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., "992E" with unusual regulation and balance spring, 16 size, 21 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, uncut, monometallic balance with gold timing screws, and balance spring with straight overcoil, studded at the back of the balance cock, and with linear regulator in a nickel, screw back and bezel open face case, luminous Arabic numeral and arrow marker black metal dial, skeletonized luminous hands, serial #2587492, c1930.
CONDITION:
CASE: Minor dings and pin pricks; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Plastic crystal with scratches. DIAL: Dirty; Minor scratches and losses. HANDS: Minor oxidation; Lacking luminous compound. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Winding wheels abraded; Ratchet wheel with minor pitting; Screw heads with minor marring; Escape wheel endstone setting not flush with plate. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). A very unusual balance spring and regulator, and may be an experiment carried out by Hamilton research and development.
